Anello alle Balze del Valdarno
Abbiamo approffitato del 25 aprile per collaudare un percorso speciale. Partendo dalla chiesa di Ostina, frazione del comune di Reggello, abbiamo camminato per circa 14 km e attraversato diverse frazioni per poi tornare al punto di partenza.
Ad Ostina da segnalare che l’ultima domenica del mese la chiesa è molto frequentata e pertanto non sempre si riesce a trovare parcheggio.
Questo cammino non è faticoso, non è breve ma può essere adatto a tutti coloro che hanno voglia di immergersi in un paesaggio diverso dalle più comuni colline toscane.
Primo centro abitato che incontriamo è quello della frazione di Vaggio, poi proseguiamo verso le incantevoli abitazioni di San Siro a Francino, prati e uliveti ai lati della piccola strada ci accompagnano silenziosamente nel nostro percorso.
La maggior parte del percorso è su sentiero ed è consigliato uno scarponcino leggero. In alcuni punti del sentiero abbiamo trovato un po’ di fango, niente che una scarpa da trekking non possa affrontare con serenità.
Una volta che ci siamo lasciati alle spalle San Siro a Francino, ci siamo diretti verso la Pieve di San Pietro a Cascia perché incuriositi dalla maestosità della Chiesa.
Siamo rimasti piacevolmente sorpresi dal movimenti di giovani e coppie in piazza, due localini pieni di ragazzi e un ristorante molto invitante a portata di mano.
Da segnalare il Museo Masaccio di arte sacra che ospita alcune opere di grandi maestri quali il Ghirlandaio, il Bronzino e Santi di Tito.
Salutata la Pieve, ci siamo avviati per tornare alla macchina, quindi a Ostina. Purtroppo il tragitto tra Pieve di San Pietro a Cascia ad Ostina è su strada, quindi bisogna fare attenzione all’ora del ritorno e alle macchine che passano piuttosto veloci.

We took advantage of one day off and on 25 April we decided to test a special trail. Starting from the church of Ostina, a hamlet of the municipality of Reggello, we walked for about 16 km and crossed several hamlets to then return to the starting point.
In Ostina, we must point out that, on the last Sunday of the month the church is very popular and therefore it isn’t always possible to find parking.
This path isn’t particularly tiring, it’s not short but it can be suitable for all those who want to immerse themselves in a landscape different from the most common Tuscan hills.
The first inhabited centre we meet is that of the hamlet of Vaggio, then we continue towards the enchanting houses of San Siro a Francino, meadows and olive groves on the sides of the small road silently accompany us along our journey.
Most of the route is on a path and a light trekking shoe is recommended. In some points of the path we have found some mud, nothing that a hiking shoe can’t deal with.
Once we left behind San Siro a Francino, we headed to the Parish Church of San Pietro a Cascia because intrigued by the majesty of the Church.
We were pleasantly surprised by the crowd of young people and couples in the square, two places full of youngsters and a very inviting restaurant within reach.
Masaccio Museum of Sacred Art is worth a visit and houses some works by great masters such as Ghirlandaio, Bronzino and Santi di Tito.
After waving goodbye to the parish church, we set out to get back to the car, then to Ostina. Unfortunately, the journey between Pieve di San Pietro a Cascia and Ostina is by road, so you have to be careful of the time of return and the cars that pass quite fast.
