Lucca - Pisa sulla via degli acquedotti romani
Un’escursione che ci ha particolarmente emozionati. Lunga, a tratti faticosa, ma ti fa godere di una vista strepitosa e ti riporta a contatto con la natura che ospita l’acquedotto romano.
Siamo partiti piuttosto tardi dal Fattoio alle Ripe e ci siamo diretti svelti alla stazione; da lì abbiamo preso il treno per Firenze e poi per Lucca, meta finale della prima parte del nostro viaggio.
Arrivati a Lucca zaino in spalla e via verso la linea degli acquedotti romani.
An excursion that has particularly excited us. Long, sometimes tiring, but it makes you enjoy an amazing view and brings you back into contact with nature that houses the Roman aqueduct.
We started rather late from Fattoio alle Ripe and we headed quickly to the station, from there we took the train to Florence and then to Lucca, the final destination of the first part of our journey.
Once in Lucca, backpack and straight to the line of Roman aqueducts.
La prima parte del percorso è piuttosto pianeggiante, a tratti cittadina, poi pian piano inizia a salire verso la montagna e la salita si fa sentire.
Il sentiero è percorribile senza particolari criticità, in un solo punto abbiamo dovuto prestare attenzione perché il terreno era leggermente franato.
E poi, passo dopo passo, si arriva a scollinare e ti aspetti quasi di vedere il mare… e invece non lo vedi! Ahahaha, noi ci siamo illusi, anche se qualche scorcio dall’alto sì, ci ha permesso di ammirare un mare azzurro e tranquillo con un bel sole caldo a completare. Anche senza mare, la vista è spettacolare.
The first part of the route is rather flat, sometimes city path, then slowly begins to climb towards the mountain and the climb is felt.
The path can be walked without any particular difficulty, in only one point we had to pay attention because the ground was slightly landslide, probably due to the heavy rain.
And then, step by step, you get to the top of the hill and you almost expect to see the sea and…instead you do not see it!
Ahahaha, we were deluded, although some glimpses from above allowed us to admire a blue and quiet sea with a nice warm sun to complete. Even without the sea, the view is astonishing.
Ti chiederai… sole? a maggio? questo maggio 2019 che tanti hanno chiamato maggembre? Ebbene, questa gita l’abbiamo fatta prima delle grandi piogge, era il primo giorno di maggio, e il sole era davvero caldissimo!
Dal punto di vista archeologico, il bello viene ora, quando ci lasciamo alle spalle il bosco, il sentiero comodo e ci avventuriamo per una bella discesa dove il sentiero si fonde con ciò che resta dell’acquedotto romano. La cosa sorprendente è proprio la buona conservazione dell’impianto.
In questa parte del percorso le caviglie saranno messe a dura prova, presta attenzione ai ciottoli e ai sassi durante la discesa.
L’ultima parte della gita è di nuovo pianeggiante e al tramonto ci godiamo l’acquedotto che arriva a Pisa fin quasi nel cuore della città.

From the archaeological point of view, the beauty comes now, when we leave behind the forest, the comfortable path and we venture for a nice descent where the path blends with what remains of the Roman aqueduct. The surprising thing is just the good conservation of the plant.
In this part of the path the ankles will be put to the test, pay attention to pebbles and stones during the descent.
The last part of the trip is again flat and at sunset we enjoy the aqueduct that arrives in Pisa, almost inside the heart of the city.
Siamo sfiniti all’arrivo in stazione, ma grati per tanta bellezza e carichi di energia per la prossima avventura!
